DIY Halloween costumes in 10 minutes: 5 your kids can make themselves
School just told you it’s Halloween dress-up day tomorrow? We’ve been there many times 😅 Here are five costumes your child can make in about 10 minutes from things you already have. You just help with the cutting.
Our tip: let your child choose and make it. Do the cutting for little ones, and skip masks that cover the eyes so they can see clearly.
1. Ghost
- You need: an old white T-shirt, black paper, double-sided tape
- How: cut two eyes and a mouth from the black paper and stick them on the T-shirt.
2. Black cat
- You need: black clothes, a headband, black paper, an old sock
- How: cut two triangle ears for the headband; stuff the sock with paper for a tail and clip it at the waist.
3. Mummy
- You need: white clothes, 1–2 rolls of toilet paper
- How: wrap the paper around the body, keeping the face, hands and feet free. If it tears, even better.
4. Pumpkin
- You need: an orange T-shirt, black paper, tape
- How: cut triangle eyes and a big gap-toothed smile and stick them on the front.
5. Witch or wizard
- You need: black A3 paper, yellow paper, tape
- How: roll the black paper into a cone, tape it, and add yellow paper stars.
Plan B
Short on time? Stationery shops near home often sell cat-ear headbands or witch hats at low prices (our tip; check with the shop first).
